Frequently Asked Questions

How many bricks per square foot for a 9-inch wall?

Approximately 13.5 bricks per cubic foot, which works out to about 10-11 bricks per square foot of 9-inch wall face including mortar.

What is the standard brick size in Pakistan/India?

The standard brick size is 9 x 4.5 x 3 inches (228 x 114 x 76 mm).

How much cement for 1000 bricks?

For a 9-inch wall with 1:6 mortar, approximately 3 cement bags (50kg) are needed per 1000 bricks.

What does “Dry Mortar” mean in the calculation?

Dry mortar is the volume of cement and sand before water is added. Wet mortar (cement + sand + water) occupies less volume than the dry ingredients separately, so we multiply by 1.33 to get the dry volume needed.

Why is wastage added separately?

Bricks break during transport and cutting. The calculator shows net bricks required, then adds your wastage percentage (default 5%) to give the order quantity. Always order the wastage-included quantity.

What mortar ratio should I use?

1:6 (1 part cement, 6 parts sand) is standard for brick masonry in Pakistan/India. Use 1:4 for stronger work or exposed walls. The calculator lets you enter any ratio.

How do I enter 6 feet 10 inches?

Select “Feet” unit, then enter 6 in the Length (ft) field and 10 in the Length (inch) field. The calculator combines them automatically (6.83 ft).
